Hi, I'm new to the list.
I just upgraded my kernel, got Xfree86 4.1.0 and built my kernel with
direct rendering support so I thought that I'd try out tuxracer. The
screenshots look really great and I'm pretty excited about it.
I start it up and everything looks great. Transitions are smooth and
fast but when I try to race or practice I get the background image
(mountains, sky, etc.) and little else. Every once in a while I get a
brief glimpse of tux and the forground terrain (flags, herring, rocks)
but for the most part I am just looking at the mountains and sky.
I can accelerate, turn, brake, jump. At least the speed changes, the
background shifts around and the status display seems to think I am
jumping. It even seems like it is racing ok because I'll 'hit' things
(speed drops). Sound is also fine.
So I guess I have some kind of problem with the video card/driver/????
I'm running on Debian 'potato' with the mods for the 2.4 kernel (sort
of a woody-potato hybrid).
Thanks in advance. And thanks for a good looking game.
The difference between Theory and Practice
in Theory is small but in Practice is large.
