Figured I'd throw this out, and see if anybody else has had the same
problem. I recently upgraded my video card from an NVidia GeForce 4MX
420 to an ATI Radeon 9500 Pro. I'm using Gentoo, and installed the
drivers using the ati-drivers ebuild.
Previously, TuxRacer had no problem at all. Now, after running tuxracer,
the screen flashes black once, then drops me back at the command line
(when running it from a terminal), displaying the following error
fglrx: Failed to map back buffer!
*** tuxracer error: Couldn't initialize video: Unable to make GL
context current (Success)
That's all that I receive, excepting the usual copyright info. It sounds
to me like the problem lays within the fglrx driver, which is over my
head, but I wondered if somebody else out there had run across a similiar
