Making an ETR course sounded fun, but I can't find the "contrib" directory. Am I looking in the wrong place? The only place I could find existing ETR course folders is usr/share/games/etr/courses, and I can't make folders there. The only other ETR-related folder on my computer is ~/.etr, and that's mostly just data like highscores and player profiles. The FAQ page keeps mentioning "<tuxracer-data>" but I can't find that. Where would it be on my Linux computer? |

Not quite dead. I've got a port of Extreme Tux Racer to the Oculus Rift VR head mounted display: https://jdtaylor.github.io/tuxracer-vr It doesn't look like ETR uses this font. Hello, In directory http://tuxracer.cvs.sourceforge.net/viewvc/tuxracer/tuxracer-data/fonts/ there are files called trebuchet_yel_blk.rgb and trebuchet_yel_blk.tfm. The name is very similar to the "Trebuchet MS" font. I have compared the samples found on the web to the glyphs used in the app and found that they are the same. Example glyphs can be found on: - http://www.microsoft.com/typography/fonts/font.aspx?FMID=1868 - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trebuchet_MS You could try substituting this font for some free version. Greetings, Mateusz Jończyk |

Hey All, I'm trying to build Tux Racer but I get an error from configure. checking for tcl library... no configure: error: Cannot find Tcl library [mlapier@mushroom tuxracer-0.61]$ ./configure --help --with-tcl-libs=DIR Location of Tcl library --with-tcl-lib-name=NAME Tcl library name --with-tcl-inc=DIR Location of Tcl header files --with-tcl-header=NAME Tcl header filename I gather that I'm supposed to supply some sort of argument to the configure command to tell it where to find my Tool Control Language files. I am in the process of compiling TuxRacer on Mac OS X v10.5, and have been running into some errors. I am in the process of working through them, but I was thinking it would be easier if I had the original Mac OS X port. I found the compiled binaries, but they crash under 10.5. does anyone know the source code is? |

I replied to Andreas via private mail in German. My suggestion to him was to check out extreme tuxracer (http://extremetuxracer.com), to my knowledge the only still alive fork of open-source tuxracer (now that openracer is no longer alive, which I know for sure ;), and PPRacer is also dead to my knowledge). They seem to have SuSE RPMs and their source tarballs should compile fine on recent distributions. Problem is that original oss tuxracer, which is ages (!) old, does not check for tcl8.4 in the configure script. Hacking configure.in (plus invoking autoconf and the related stuff) should help, but it seems easier to go for the more recent source base extreme tuxracer. I'm trying to compile for linux however there seems to be a problem with the glx.h file. I think the tarball is defective -- please link me to a *working* tar ball.
