Yes, those are good points.  The crucial factor is whether any
modifications are required to mikmod (I don't think so, though).  The
advantages of including the code are convenience for the user, and the
fact that you only need to test against one version of the library.
I don't have a strong preference either way. Steve, it's your call. :-)
