I never noticed that. When I saw that it setup the nVidia drivers for me in the X configuration, I thought everything was golden. For the most part, 8.0 is a big improvement. The installation was unbelievably easy. It even found my printer on a windows machine on my network and was able to print off a test page during the setup. That impressed me, the guys at Xerox told me I wouldn't be able to use this printer in Linux at all :) I guess someone finally wrote a drive for it The only main problem I've seen is the font's it uses by default. They are really bad, and I've heard others complaining about them as well. Just a couple of clicks in the configuration and it seemed to fix it right up. It has a Control Center that allows you setup all your hardware, network configuration, services, users etc..etc.. with a nice gui. It will even let you setup a home firewall with a few clicks of the mouse, now that was nice :) It's based on the 2.4.3 kernel, so it comes with a ton of support built right in. Being 2 CD's long, there is a ton of software you can install. There also have a program for software management. It will let you do a query to see if a piece of software was installed, if not, it will let you install it right then and there, from the installation cd's, or from a ftp mirror site for updates and security patches. That too is a very nice feature. All en' all, I'm impressed MDK 8.0. If you ask me, it's the best distro for newbies and for the desktop. Now if it would just come complete with jdk and staroffice... :) There are many more pro's then con's with Mandrake 8.0. I'd highly recommend it. As soon as I get the time, I'll go out and install the drivers for my video card and let you know it turns out Bill ----- Original Message ----- From: "Carl & Paula Zeilon" <PCZ...@at...> To: <tux...@li...> Sent: Monday, April 30, 2001 11:20 AM Subject: Re: [tuxracer-main] tuxracer problem with Mandrake 8.0 > Bill, check out the fine print for Mandrake 8.0.
