A bug tuxpaint has is that it has to re-generate all the tumbnails of
the starters it provides.
This means that the "New"dialog is slow to start.
Possible solutions that I see:
a) Store the thumbnails in the user directory, say
~/.tuxpaint/mainstarters/600x800/*. They will be optimized to the
resolution tuxpaint was started, but if the user starts at another
resolution, then the thumbs have to be recreated in another directory
next to the first.
Moreover, this operation will be needed per user who starts tuxpaint.
b) Provide precreated thumbnails, this has the advantage to be valid
for all users, but has the disavantage of not being optimized for all
the resolutions tuxpaint is able to run, then we have to choose a set of
resolutions and provide thumbs for them, say 640x480, 800x600,
1280x800, ???x??? and choose from them the closest to the running
So, what sounds best? Alternatives?
