Would this be more suitable for Tuxpaint? It may, but I'm guessing the translation would need to be completely redone, otherwise it will come out as ASCII gibberish. :) See why I'm sighing? ;) -bill! |

The ghosting happens with both round and square erasers. When I let go of the mouse and drag the eraser tool over the ghosted lines, or when I move another window over Tux Paint and move it off again, the ghosting disappears, so it does appear to be a refresh issue. The problem does not appear in Tux Paint 0.9.15. I'll try out the latest sources tonight. I see we have po files for 66 languages, but there are a bewildering variety of locales and encodings for some of these (e.g. "ar"). I guess I can try UTF-8 any locale (e.g. ar_AE.UTF8)? Ben |

I've expanded the screen refresh by 1px on each side, in case there's some math difference going on when it determines how big the XOR was that needs to be drawn. I'm committing to CVS now. Did this not happen on Tux Paint 0.9.15? I don't rememebr it... :^/ -bill! |

Aha, that's the problem. I didn't compile with -DHAVE_STRCASESTR, so
TuxPaint's custom strcasestr() is being called. I had to change the
return statement from
return (result - uphaystack + (char *) haystack);
to:
if (result != NULL)
return (result - uphaystack + (char *) haystack);
else
return NULL;
and now everything runs fine. I still have to clean up a couple
things and then I'll get a disk image posted.

No, it is a text file describing some details about the "kuroneko.png"
brush image. (Most brushes do not have corresponding .dat files, but
this one, and some others, do.)
Now, why it's trying to load the .dat file as a PNG is confusing, because
it should skip it.
Line 5627 of tuxpaint.c:
if (strcasestr(files[i].str, ".png"))
(It's an implicit test of "!= NULL" there, btw.)

I had some time last night to put together a universal binary of Tux
Paint 0.9.16rc2. It compiles :-) but doesn't run :-( I'm getting
the following error:
Error: I couldn't load a graphics file:
Tux Paint.app/Contents/Resources/brushes//kuroneko.dat
The Simple DirectMedia Layer error that occurred was:
Unsupported image format
I presume kurenko.dat is an image file, and I've checked that I
linked against SDL 1.2.11 and SDL Image 1.2.5, which I believe are
the latest versions. Any ideas?

I'm about to push 0.9.16rc4. Ok, rc4 is now available, and now I've got to get back to my day job. Have at it! :) Changes since 0.9.16rc3: * Making sure default UI font is used for untranslated strings. (Hindi font, for example, didn't seem to have roman characters.) * Added missing langages to man page. * Added missing languages to "--lang" options list. * Added missing languages to --locale option listing. * Fixed alphabetization of "--lang help" output. And I've also updated tuxpaint-config 0.0.7 and released an rc4 tarball: * Added numerous missing locales! Kartik popped up in #tux4kids IRC channel and mentioned that Hindi was rendering more accurately, so I went to test it. Then I discovered that the Hindi font lacked the characters to display english text -- while the button labels and the 'Tux tips' at the bottom that I saw looked fine, things like the prompts for quitting or creating a new image came out as mostly boxes. There's a work-around that's used in button labels: if the string translated (strcmp(str, gettext(str) != 0), use the locale-specific font, _otherwise_ use the default UI font. I'll do a cursory glance at all ~70 languages Tux Paint has been translated to, just to make sure obvious issues like this aren't happening elsewhere. I'm leaving it up to the translators (see my post to tuxpaint-i18n earlier today) to make sure things actually still _say_ the right things. :) -bill! |

I have gotten an account from sourceforge.net. How can l join your project? It would be much appreciated! :^) > I would be grateful if you could reply as soon as possible (wheter its positive or negative) since I have to forward the message of approval to my lecturer before I could begin the project until 16 October. I would also need another short message at the end confirming that the project has been completed. Sorry for not replying to your private email regarding this sooner. I'll assume that you know some amount of HTML coding. For the most part, translators do not need to worry about the HTML, CSS or PHP, aside from keeping my PHP calls where they are, and using the same (or similar) HTML and CSS markup for formatting the text on the pages. Almost all of the Tux Paint website is based on PHP-generated pages (mostly to handle the sidebar navigation), and this 'source code' to the website is stored in Tux Paint's CVS repository on SourceForge.net. Are you familiar with SourceForge? It would help if you had your own account, then I could provide you with write-access to the CVS repository, so you can simply work on your translations, commit them to CVS, and then the next time I do an 'update' (to pull the latest changes out of CVS), the tuxpaint.org website will have your updates. There are free clients for accessing a CVS repository for Windows, Mac and Linux -- both command-line and graphical (GUI). PS - You may also want to subscribe to the tuxpaint-i18n mailing list, where we try to focus the translation- and localization-related questions. Thank you bill,
Ben,
ja.ttf in tuxpaint-0.9.16 is a simple and very small subset of
sazanami-gothic.ttf.
----- From "fonts/locale/ja_docs/COPYING.txt -----------------
Sazanami-Gothic-noBitmap-noKanji.ttf (Custumized for TuxPaint)
This is a custumized subset of Sazanami-Gothic.ttf for TuxPaint.
Difference between original are,
a) Bitmap data which prevent correct rendering (due to SDL_ttf
bug) are removed.
b) All Kanji data not used in TuxPaint are removed.
---------------------------------------------------------------
So, I think it doesn't make too much sense to prepare separate
font package of it.
Thank you.
