I' running .9.18 in windowed mode, and it appears that if tux paint is running, even if minimized, the screensaver will not activate.

What platform is this on? I'm guessing it's an issue with libSDL, such as this one reported for SDL-based apps running in fullscreen mode: http://bugzilla.libsdl.org/show_bug.cgi?id=415

I had the same issue with 0.9.15 (I think) on Mac OSX. I have just upgraded to 0.9.18 hoping the issue is resolved. Will report if it now works for me or not.

And I can confirm the issue is still there -- minimized or hidden, Tux Paint does not allow a screensaver to start.

SDL 1.2.12 introduces "SDL_VIDEO_ALLOW_SCREENSAVER" environment variable that prevents screensaver from being disabled. I'm exposing this in Tux Paint 0.9.19 as a "--allowscreensaver" option (which will warn if it detects SDL < 1.2.12).

Note: My Ubuntu has SDL 1.2.11 so I'm currently unable to confirm that it will work, but it should. Thanks!
