Hello,
this is my first message to TuxPaint-project... so, I hope that I will respect the implicit behaviour...

I think that I have searched in all locations of this site, without having seen anything about what I encounter,
except one "bug" with special greek characters when entered from keyboard into tool "Text".
But If I'm reporting here a well-known bug, I do apologize in advance...

On the other hand, if it's a real bug (already reported or not), I'm ready to HELP in testing, or anything you find useful...

I join a ms-Word.doc file in attachment where I describe the problem with more details (+ hex values, ...),
but here is the summary :
when I try to enter french characters in 2 strokes, like ê or ï or â or  or û
in the tool "Text", TuxPaint simply displays the dead-key, then the letter,
like if the dead-key is a normal key : ^e ¨i ^a ^A ^u

I have tried all this on another PC WinXP, with the same results...
as I said, I'm ready to help !
regards,
php (Philippe)

Similar reported for Spanish in #3463478

    hello,
thank you to wkendrick for adding another symptom,
and especially to Pere for his ... solution ! :-)
following his suggestion, I downloaded the file.zip and I simply (perhaps too simplist, not appropriate !?) replaced SDL.dll in win32 folder, and...
it works : special french characters are correctly displaid, using two key-strokes !
strange is that the SDL.dll delivered with TuxPaint is marked 1.2.14.0, while the SDL.dll from libsdl.org is ALSO marked 1.2.14.0 ! ==> ?
so, I'm not sure about my method, but Pere is right : there is something in this area !
I stay ready for help, including tests !
thank you all for this wonderful TuxPaint,
    have a good day,
    php

    Hi,
It would be nice if you manage to compile the latest cvs version, so you will be able to test what will be on a next release.
Also, you could try to reproduce the bug about greek letters and test if the sdl update solves it.
Note that for further communication not specifically related to a bug report it is better to address it to the devel mail list
