Remember a few messages ago when Paul mentioned there was a user
who reported sound problems about a year ago?  That was me, and I am
also using a Dell Inspiron 7000 with a Maestro 2.  I never figured out
why the emu slows down so bad.  The driver author acknowledges a
separate problem wherein the sound begins to crackle nonstop due to
buffer underflow; I suspect this problem is related.  My solution was
to give up on the Maestro and play the damn thing on the Dreamcast.
