#1 no zlib = no compile

i don't know if this is completely documented, but the configure script made a small note of me not having zlib in one of its checks. then it went ahead and made the makefile anyhow, till i got a nice compile error on the file unzip.c. installed zlib (okay, i'm dumb for not having it in the first place) and it went just fine. prolly doesn't really matter, but i'm running a highly modified rh 8, w/ gcc 3.2.1 on an amd k6-2 500.

I've installed zlibg, zlibc, and zlib.
I can ./configure, but still cannot make or install succesfully!
Am I missing any other libraries?

I am running debian 2.4.
with an S3 Virge on board video (4mb)
pII ~233mhz
