Hi to all, today I checked TuxMath 2.0.3 for my 7 years old daughter and her girlfriend. The game seems to my very helpful. My system language is German. Unfortunatly a lot a textes are still in English instead of German. I also found some typos in the German translated parts. It seemed clear to my how to translate/ improve it to proper German. --> Herewith I offer support in translating the textes to German, since I'm a native speaker of this language. Unfortunately I have no idea how to do this, I saw the link to gettext, but I doubt whether this is the right way. I'm working on Linux Mint 17.2 Cinnamon 32 bit version. -- Mit freundlichen Grüßen, kind regards, Henrik Heinsch Westerwaldstrasse 12 35641 Schöffengrund - Schwalbach Germany - Hesse Tel: +496445923096 Mob: +4916090551061 Fax: +496445612997 Mailto: hen...@on... |

There are gettext editors available, so you won't need to work on the raw files. Look for Virtaal and PoEdit :) Look for a file called de.po. Hi to all, I found some time to close gaps in the German translation, but now it's time for me to check if I'm turning the right screw in the right direction: 1. How can I check with my official installed Tux Math if the translations are well done? 2. I found some english strings in Tux Math which are not contained in the translation file! How to proceed with those things to get it correctely translated to German? Thanks! There are 2 possible reasons for his: 1. The strings haven't been marked for translation yet, so they can't be translated. 2. You need to run msgmerge http://linuxcommand.org/man_pages/msgmerge1.html Sgrìobh Henrik Heinsch na leanas 17/05/2016 aig 22:17: > Hi to all, > > I found some time to close gaps in the German translation, but now it's > time for me to check if I'm turning the right screw in the right direction: > > 1. Starting from your translation, create the .mo object, this can be done in command line with msgfmt or if you use poedit it has an option to generate the machine readable file, other editors may have their own options to do so. Then locate the official installed tuxmath.mo file corresponding to your language, in Debian, for German it is under /usr/share/locale/de/LC_MESSAGES/tuxmath.mo make a backup of it, then replace with the file you just generated and test tuxmath with your translations. > > 2. I found some english strings in Tux Math which are not contained > in > the translation file! How to proceed with those things to get it > correctely translated to German? What strings? What is the exact file you are translating? downloaded from where? It will really help if you tell this, depending on the exact file you are translating and the exact strings that are not contained in the translation file it can be: strings no more there- if the file you are translating is too new and there have been string changes. strings recently added- if you are translating an "old"(stable version?) file. strings recently added but still not merged into the translation files/not even marked for translation. Please, tell us what strings and what file :) Hope this helps Pere > Thanks! > > > Mit freundlichen Grüßen, > > Henrik Heinsch > > Westerwaldstrasse 12 > 35641 Schöffengrund - Schwalbach > > Tel: +496445923096 > Mob: +4916090551061 > Fax: +496445612997 > > Mailto: hen...@on... > > Am 18.04.2016 um 12:39 schrieb Holger Levsen: > > > > Hi Henrik, > > > > On Sun, Apr 17, 2016 at 11:56:33PM +0200, Henrik Heinsch wrote: > > > > > > --> Herewith I offer support in translating the textes to German, > > > since > > > I'm a native speaker of this language. > > cool! > > > > > > > > Unfortunately I have no idea how to do this, I saw the link to > > > gettext, > > > but I doubt whether this is the right way. > > git clone git://git.debian.org/git/tux4kids/tuxmath.git > > cd tuxmath > > cd po > > $editor de.po > > git commit -a -m "update of German translation" > > git format-patch -1 > > > > mail the generated file to this list. > > > > > > ------------------------------------------------------------------- > ----------- > Mobile security can be enabling, not merely restricting.
