I'd like to add info. on the playtesters to the credits screen. I know some folks (Greg and Calvin) are having teachers/students test it. At the very least, it'd be nice to include the school names. Please send 'em as you get 'em, and I'll add them to src/credits.c Thanks! -bill! |

Just a quick FYI (from my experience): Public Schools may have a problem (the paper-work involved in getting permission for "non-preapproved" software installed is usually a nightmare in school districts) simply because if an individual administrator (or teacher, or even simple tech-head) is using the software on a testing basis, they may not necessarily have permission to do do. Private, charter, religious, etc. schools may or may not have problems depending on their circumstances (private and charter schools will likely not have many problems, rather they'd like the PR.... religious schools may have a problem simply because they might not want to be affiliated with non-corportate groups [this is a very if-y area... some may have problems, other may not...] ) (These things being said, I'd just like to add that I think the first places where we would see wide-spread Linux/Open-Source software use in the classroom will most likely be in the private, charter, religious, etc. schools, simply because they usually have less overhead technology infrastructure to deal with. ;-) -- Sam "Criswell" Hart <cri...@ge...> AIM, Yahoo!: <criswell4069> Homepage: < http://www.geekcomix.com/snh/ > PGP Info: < http://www.geekcomix.com/snh/contact/ > Tux4Kids: < http://www.geekcomix.com/tux4kids/ > |

Also, to add to what I've already said, because there have been soooo many legal and financial attacks on schools in the last five years, public schools in particular are very paranoid (and rightly so) about installing software that isn't "approved" simply because they dont understand the licenses involved. (PS: we have some massive work ahead of ourselves to convince schools that not only can they find quality software in the Open-Source/Free-Software worlds... but that they can trust the licenses will give them more freedoms and less legal worry than the licenses they are familier with ;-) -- Sam "Criswell" Hart <cri...@ge...> AIM, Yahoo!: <criswell4069> Homepage: < http://www.geekcomix.com/snh/ > PGP Info: < http://www.geekcomix.com/snh/contact/ > Tux4Kids: < http://www.geekcomix.com/tux4kids/ > |

I'm used to the public schools situation which is exactly the opposite! __________________________________________________ Terrorist Attacks on U.S. - How can you help?
