Works fine in English, well, nearly it says "ex" (the name of the letter
x) instead of the word "times"(multiplication) 
The minus sign has too this problem.

when I run it in catalan, I hear the voice in English.
I think you should use gettext functions to get the translations.
Maybe too initialize espeak to the used language...
