I often come across software though where the devs haven't thought about people wanting to use a language other than their OS language, and there is no option to change it. I'm sorry if I went a bit overboard with this, but for minority languages this is a constant problem. Operating systems are the least flexible software you can get as to language availability, yet other software tends to build on it. For example, I have a Gaelic language Browser with Gaelic as my preferred browser language set up, and what does Google Maps do? That's right, ignore all that and read my system locale and give me German ... A friend of mine has blogged on this problem, if you're interested http://akerbeltzalba.wordpress.com/2011/12/15/detect-locale-manna-from-heaven-or-hellspawn/ /rant *lol* > Could you please look into adding a menu option somewhere, so users can > > choose their language? > > > That indeed is a very good and repeatedly-requested feature that we have > never gotten around to implementing. > > Also, while I cannot claim to be Scottish given that my family has been > in North America for several generations, my direct paternal ancestors > did emigrate from Scotland to Canada around 1790, so I am delighted to > hear of your interest! That's great! I am actually not Scottish myself, I just love the language to bits :) |
