[Tuxmath-devel] Dumping SourceForge?

Hey all,

It looks like we may be able to get some supplimental or even replacement 
project hosting outside of SourceForge, so I was wondering what everyone's 
opinion on the matter was?

Here's the deal, SourceForge has hosted TuxType for almost a year now (over a 
year?) and it has hosted TuxMath since its start. SourceForge is a great 
service to the community, and I don't want to disparage (sp?) it at all. All 
of the issues that I have started having personally with it have been very 
recent ones (the mailing list munging issue is one that comes to mind...)

However, we could *probably* get SourceForge software installed elsewhere, 
where we would have more of a say in the admin of the system, and move parts 
or all of our projects to them.

So what does everyone think of the subject?

Personally, to give you some idea of my thoughts on it, here's the direction 
I'm leaning:

* Keep the TuxType, TuxMath, and TuxReader projects primarily hosted on their 
relative sites (SourceForge and Savannah), using this secondary service as a 
replacement for the particulars of SourceForge or Savannah we dont like (such 
as moving the mailing lists to the secondary service).

* Place future Tux4Kids projects on these new secondary servers.

* Do most, if not all, sub-project website hosting on these new secondary 
servers. (For example, www.geekcomix.com/dm/tuxmath/ would be moved to these 
new servers, and the core development team would have access to the servers 
for website updating [meaning I could finally start delegating the web and PR 
stuff to other people])

Comments? Suggestions?

BTW, it's likely we're going to be seeing some growing pains as an 
organization over the next few months, so I hope you all can be patient as we 
wrangle with new issues and possibilities ;-)
