I'm doing some testing w/XFree86, SDL, distro's, Video cards, vid modes etc... I'm trying to get a handle on why I see so much difference in performance on comparable machines... and performance results that make absolutely no sense for instance... on rh7.1 using the water demo from libsdl.org shows 102fps it's set up with X4.0.3, r128,direct accl and xengine shows ~805rpm so on to peanut...9.0b2 it's set up with X4.1.0, r128,direct accl and xengine shows ~1750rpm on P9.0 using the water demo from libsdl.org shows 93fps See, why did X perf go up yet sdl went down?. And the performance diffs between LIN/WIN is stunning too... I compiled water and xengine "i586 target" all tests done at 1024x768x16 amd k62 500mhz,196mg ram, noswaps and no other running apps... running out out a ram drive... I'd like to be able to get some concrete to be able to discuss this further. Anyone up to sending me your #'s and your XFree86.0.log and your mach setup descrpt.. water is on the libsdl.org and you can find xengine at rpmfind.net Can someone out there compile water for win32 and post it somewhere? __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
