ANNOUNCING TUXKART Version 0.4.0 This version fixes a couple of minor bugs and updates to support PLIB 1.8.0. To simplify installation, TuxKart no longer requires GLUT. Removed 'mouse-trap' mode - it was convenient for ancient Voodoo graphics cards - but very inconvenient for more modern graphics. ---------------------------- Steve Baker ------------------------- HomeEmail: <sjb...@ai...> WorkEmail: <sj...@li...> HomePage : http://www.sjbaker.org Projects : http://plib.sf.net http://tuxaqfh.sf.net http://tuxkart.sf.net http://prettypoly.sf.net -----BEGIN GEEK CODE BLOCK----- GCS d-- s:+ a+ C++++$ UL+++$ P--- L++++$ E--- W+++ N o+ K? w--- !O M- V-- PS++ PE- Y-- PGP-- t+ 5 X R+++ tv b++ DI++ D G+ e++ h--(-) r+++ y++++ -----END GEEK CODE BLOCK----- |

ANNOUNCING: TuxKart 0.0.6 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Due to some *strange* problems that RedHat users are experiencing with building TuxKart on RH 7.1, I've made a few changes to the build mechanism. If TuxKart is currently working OK for you, there is no point in downloading a new version. ----------------------------- Steve Baker ------------------------------- HomeMail : <sjb...@ai...> WorkMail: <sj...@li...> HomePage : http://web2.airmail.net/sjbaker1 Projects : http://plib.sf.net http://tuxaqfh.sf.net http://tuxkart.sf.net http://agtoys.sf.net http://prettypoly.sf.net http://freeglut.sf.net http://toobular.sf.net |

ANNOUNCING: TuxKart 0.0.5 and TuxAQFH 1.0.15. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ There are no major changes in either of these games - the new release is simply to bring them up to speed with the latest revision of PLIB and to cover some compilation problems that have been experienced with more recent versions of Linux, OpenGL and GCC. These versions both require PLIB 1.4.0 or later. ----------------------------- Steve Baker ------------------------------- HomeMail : <sjb...@ai...> WorkMail: <sj...@li...> HomePage : http://web2.airmail.net/sjbaker1 Projects : http://plib.sf.net http://tuxaqfh.sf.net http://tuxkart.sf.net http://agtoys.sf.net http://prettypoly.sf.net http://freeglut.sf.net http://toobular.sf.net |

Sourceforge tell me that their systems will be down for a while on Friday: > 2. Project page webservers hosting subdomains > (yourprojectname.sourceforge.net) will be down Friday December 15 from > 9PM PST (12AM EST) until 3AM PST. > > 3. CVS will be unavailable (read only part of the time) from 7PM > until 3AM PST > > 4. Mailing lists and mail aliases will be unavailable until 3AM PST If you need to check things in or out, read the manuals or get something off your chest via email - you should plan around these times. -- Steve Baker HomeEmail: <sjb...@ai...> WorkEmail: <sj...@li...> HomePage : http://web2.airmail.net/sjbaker1 Projects : http://plib.sourceforge.net http://tuxaqfh.sourceforge.net http://tuxkart.sourceforge.net http://prettypoly.sourceforge.net |

Just in case anyone didn't catch the announcement, Sourceforge will be down from 10pm Saturday Sept 22nd to 8am Sunday (Pacific time). They are moving all their servers and need a little down-time. Hence, access to: http://plib.sourceforge.net http://tuxaqfh.sourceforge.net http://tuxkart.sourceforge.net http://prettypoly.sourceforge.net - and all the associated mailing lists (and anything else at Sourceforge for that matter) will be impossible for that 10 hour period. A good time for all those 60,000 hard working OpenSource developers to throw an enormous party - or (more likely) catch up on a little well-needed sleep! |

ANNOUNCING TUXKART 0.0.3 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ OK - I *promise* the present pace of daily changes will slow down soon and we'll have some stability! This version fixes: * The bug that causes the kart to turn to the right continually if you are using the keyboard and do not have a joystick driver installed. * The problem that if you drive off the road, you can't get back on it again...well...*ALMOST* fixes it. The critter that comes to help you is just *soooo* cute :-) You can voluntarily ask for help by hitting the previously unused 'D' button (the 'D' key on the keyboard too). Beware though - it isn't a fully finished feature yet. For people using the CVS version, the binary files in the archive are now correctly marked as binary. -- Steve Baker HomeEmail: <sjb...@ai...> WorkEmail: <sj...@li...> HomePage : http://web2.airmail.net/sjbaker1 Projects : http://plib.sourceforge.net http://tuxaqfh.sourceforge.net http://tuxkart.sourceforge.net http://prettypoly.sourceforge.net |

The TuxKart web site is now up and running - there is a Tarballed version of the code and models in case you don't have CVS. http://tuxkart.sourceforge.net -- Steve Baker HomeEmail: <sjb...@ai...> WorkEmail: <sj...@li...> HomePage : http://web2.airmail.net/sjbaker1 Projects : http://plib.sourceforge.net http://tuxaqfh.sourceforge.net http://tuxkart.sourceforge.net http://prettypoly.sourceforge.net |

ANNOUNCING TuxKart 0.0.0(alpha) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ TuxKart 0.0.0(alpha) is now available from CVS on SourceForge. Since the TuxKart homepage isn't written yet, you have to go to http://sourceforge.net and use the 'Search' tool to find TuxKart's admin page and go from there...<sigh> Installation is the usual: ./configure make make install (As a developer - you may wish to skip the "make install" since all it does is copy all of the files off into /usr/local somewhere) Anyway - be sure to read the 'README' file before proceeding. I'll try to put up a regular tarball and a simple homepage later today - if I get that far, I'll post another notice here. This is only an alpha release - be gentle with me! -- Steve Baker HomeEmail: <sjb...@ai...> WorkEmail: <sj...@li...> HomePage : http://web2.airmail.net/sjbaker1 Projects : http://plib.sourceforge.net http://tuxaqfh.sourceforge.net http://tuxkart.sourceforge.net http://prettypoly.sourceforge.net |
