The 3D graphics software is pretty much already there. Very little of a game like this is involved in that stuff anyway - it's all packed away in big libraries elsewhere. > chdir() doesn't sound very portable to start with. Tuxkart ALREADY runs on every OS I know of that supports OpenGL. That includes MacOSX (although there appears to be a window-opening problem with recent versions) - but also MacOS-9, Windows/MSVC, Windows/Cygwin, Linux, BSD (all flavors), Solaris, IRIX and even AmigaOS.
