    In addition to the API, is it possible to get a superglobal ($_MMCACHE) to store shared values in?

    Would of course have security implications where all shared values could be seen by anyone. Maybe as a config option.

    Dunno if the Zend Engine even allows for new superglobals from extensions.

      ZE1 doesn't allow new superglobals from extensions but ZE2 does. In any case $_MMCACHE is bed idea because of the big security hole.
      The better decision id somthing like application variables in ASP, but I didn't think how to do them.

      Made a workaround:

      function MMCache_Save() {
          mmcache_put('somekey', serialize($GLOBALS['mmc']), $ttl=3600);
      }
          register_shutdown_function('MMCache_Save');
          $GLOBALS['mmc'] = unserialize(mmcache_get('somekey'));
