TurboGears 1 Status

Development Version

TurboGears :doc:`1.5` is currently in the beta phase. A first beta release has been published in December 2010. The major change in TG 1.5 is the (long overdue) switch to CherryPy 3, which introduces some minor backward incompatibilities to earlier TG versions. Additionally, some medium-scale refactoring work on some of TG's components (e.g. widgets, quickstart) is taking place.

Development for version :doc:`1.5` takes place in the 1.5 Subversion branch and the occasional feature-specific branch. Documentation for TurboGears :doc:`1.5` will maintained in Subversion too with Sphinx.

For more information, please see the :doc:`1.5 development plans <1.5/DevPlans>`.

Stable Version

TurboGears :doc:`1.1` was released on October 4, 2009 and we published a bugfix release 1.1.2 on December 19, 2010. TurboGears 1.1 provides different defaults for the template engine (Genshi) and the ORM (SQLAlchemy, with Elixer as an option) and should ease transition to the upcoming TurboGears 2.0 for 1.0 users, while staying almost 100% compatible with TurboGears 1.0 applications.

Development for version :doc:`1.1` takes place in the 1.1 Subversion branch. Documentation for TurboGears :doc:`1.1` on the wiki has been started as well.

For details, please see the :doc:`1.1 development plans <1.1/DevPlans>`.

Previous Version

TurboGears :doc:`1.0` was released on January 3, 2007. The APIs are now stable for all 1.0.x releases. There have been a number of maintenance releases of the 1.0 branch.

The TurboGears 1.0 branch has now entered maintenance mode. This means that all new developments will now occur in the >= 1.1 branches. The 1.0 branch will only receive critical bug-fixes and security updates from now on.
