Exciting Status Update!

As we are nearing the holidays, our teams have been hard at work in fixing the automated nightly builds. In the meantime, we put a lot of effort and focus on the features that make TTOS Linux unique! And that hard work is finally paying off. We now have functional UEFI builds based on Debian 12 in our nightly images! Our automated build system will be back online after thanksgiving weekend! Until then, here is a list of what's new!

ProShield Antivirus
We have a new Internet Security suite for TTOS Linux Chicago! This software suite has been in our repo's for testing and in our git repo's since 2018 in development and it is finally functional enough to work as a frontend for ClamAV with the added bonus of a built in Real Time Detection Engine!

ProShield Sentry Firewall
We kept backporting legacy ufw-kde from KDE 4 because we loved the UI. Even more so than the one developed in QTQuick for KDE Plasma 5. To replace the aging program, we made one inspired by the old UI with some updated improvements. We included animated logos, Intrusion Detection and Prevention, a nifty tool to look up IP address geo-locations on google maps, and a nice UI to control it all!

TTOS Welcome 2
Our second major release of TTOS Welcome, our on-boarding app, features vast improvements over the original. First off, it is completely re-written from scratch as a modular design. With this... we use a single command line interface for everything, so that we can port the front end between various desktop toolkits such as GTK, GNUStep, ect... making it natively supported by all TTOS Linux variants in the future. It also includes many new features such as a new AppInstaller tool, and quick setup buttons to install commonly used software such as Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge Browswer, Android Studio, NVIDIA Proprietary GPU Kernel Modules, and WPS Office amongst many others!

NVIDIA GeForce Installer
Our setup will pull the official NVIDA Kernel Modules onto TTOS Linux. Please note, these installer setups pull the software from other sources on the net. We do not host these. The NVIDIA software comes from debian non-free repositories. The software just detects your card and automatically installs the correct ones for you making the process simplified.

Microsoft Edge Browser
Our installer will setup official repositories for Microsoft Edge Browser as well as automatically download and install from the official repo. This ensures that you will receive all updates published to the repo by Microsoft directly! This is the same strategy we use for our google chrome installer for years! We simply ported it to work as an Edge installer as well.

GameStream Server
One of our newest features is our GameStream Server application. After NVIDIA cut support for the official NVIDIA GeForce Now GameStream service on Windows PC's, we stepped in to provide our own solution. Sunshine makes a great alternative but setup on Linux systems is far more in depth than with windows including messing with Firewall policies, and input device permissions. Our software does all of this for you as well as set up the service and provide a QR code to download the application on your mobile device. We are introducing the first native GameStream integration feature of any linux distribution with the upcoming release of TTOS Linux Chicago! This is functional and available today in the nightly images!

Closing statements
This upcoming release will mark the largest overhaul to TTOS Linux since it's move from a Linux From Scratch build to a Debian based build. We thank everyone for their continued community support and welcome input or support from anyone of our users. Our code repositories are freely available on our website, www.ttoslinux.org, and the Chicago nightly images are available to download for testing today! Just please remember, these builds take advantage of modern graphics hardware so they are not optimized for virtualization or live builds. They are designed for bare metal installations with NVIDIA GPU's. They should work with AMD GPU's as well but we do not have recent AMD GPU's to test this on and would value the input of anyone with an AMD GPU to share their experience with us, their problems, and how they resolved them.
