As those who visit our site and check out our official blog sites know, we have been working hard on a headless TTOS Linux Server build. Part of the project is the PerformaSync services that we wish to offer to the public as a service that runs on top of TTOS Linux Enterprise Server. Since this requires some data center equipment that we simply can't afford to get started, we are asking that anyone who wants to speed up development please donate (link on our homepage https://www.ttoslinux.org ) in order to speed up the process. If you can't, we'll get there eventually, just sit tight and please bear with us. In the mean time, we will continue developing the platform under Virtual Machine to keep it up to date and tested. So here is a description of what PerformaSync is and what it's rold in TTOS Linux will be along with how it benefits you, the user and what the target audience is.
PerformaSync
This is a now cloud platform whos basic service is free. Essentially, it is cloud and web dav services powered by nextcloud (prototype in testing used owncloud). The free service will use around 50-100MB (depending on size of backup configuration file to give room). There will be upgrade tiers offered such as those listed on TTOS Linux home page.
PerformaSync client will have the abillity to backup (1) repository list, (2) apt-keys, (3) installed package list, and (4) user account configuration. The profile main folder will be synced to a webdav mount associated with the account and placed into a folder matching the machine-id (making different machine profiles identifiable).
During TTOS Linux First Time run / setup, the user will be presented with a PerformaSync login page. If the user doesn't have an account, they will be persuaded with the free account. Upon login, the user will have the option to restore the system using a previously saved profile synced from their previous TTOS Linux Installs under that account. The user only has to select the correct machine-id (we will possibly include creation dates and / or last update dates into the UI)
The upgraded accounts add more data to PerformaSync making it more functional as a cloud storage device. A port of nextcloud client will integrated into the desktop will help manage backup of documents, photos, music, or videos. The upgraded account can also be used to sync photos and documents from mobile devices into their cloud service.
The target audience is anyone using TTOS Linux. Those that need an effective backup / restore system for business purposes where uptime is crucial and downtime is costly will benefit most as all they have to do to retrieve their documents from the cloud is login remotely through a web browser or install TTOS Linux to a new PC and restore your profile and documents with the first run setup.
The TTOS Linux Enterprise Server that will host PerformaSync will also include an install ISO online for free. This would also benefit business's that are looking for a secure, stable, and scalable solution to their business needs.
As our regular readers already know, we have been developing our own in house cloud scan engine and we also wrote all front ends to be compatible as a front end for ClamAV as well. The TTOS Linux Enterprise Server will include tools that will streamline and automate the task of converting ClamAV into a powerful cloud scanning engine for your personal network. This will offload the tasks of loading the database in RAM, and performing the actual scan so that the client computer doesn't have to. This is incredibly useful on a network with more than one computer as the cloud engine is always up to date, and especially useful for business because there is lest data used to download updates as only the server requires the updates. The low resource utilization also makes this highly suitable for low end hardware with limited resources.
Thank you for your time reading this notice. And again, We ask that you consider donating to the TTOS Linux project to speed up development
