#22 Install Error: unable to write into directory

After a successful installation on Windows / Apache
(despite some bugs), I tried to do the same on a
Linux / Apache server. Here I got the same problem
described by webcoder (see

Unfortunately the fix (0666 -> 0755) did not work
here. The write access of the temp folder is OK
(tested with test file), but when I start the
setup.php (with one thing changed; 0666 -> 0755),
warnings are given. But now in step 1, so even before
the temp folder is checked! The next step is not

    Actually, from what I can tell, TSEP tries to change the directory permissions to 0666 and THEN because the directory is now not eXecutable, it can't get to it. Since I use suPHP, this was particularly annoying for me.

    The trick (for now) is to create your temp directory using another user such as root, but giving the apache (or whoever the php runs as) user access to it. This way TSEP cannot chmod the directory, but can still write into it.
