"mv" a file on a mounted samba filesystem with trustees works... Note that saving an Excel file gives the same problem as renaming with Windows Explorer. The orginal filename is lost, only a temporary filename remains (perhaps excel creates a temporary file, deletes the old one, and then tries to rename the temporary file with the correct filename...)
