I was recently prodded by Pavel, CO7WT, to point out to me a new packaging scheme for Linux programs that allows a sort of "universal" package that can run on many different Linux distributions. This means that you don't have to maintain a build for Ubuntu, Debian, Arch, Fedora, CentOS, SuSe, and many other different Linux variations. This seems like a major advance, as some Linux distros don't have supported copies of TQSL (or have copies that lag behind). I've built and tested a beta kit for TQSL for Linux. If you're interested, give it a try and let me know what you think and if it's working for you, as I'm probably going to stop distributing .tar.gz files as those require building for source and this AppImage format just needs to be downloaded. https://www.rickmurphy.net/lotw/TQSL-x86_64.AppImage Download the file, then either install it on your desktop (which will happen with a double-click if your distribution allows it), or use a terminal to make it runnable: $ chmod a+x TQSL-x86_64.AppImage $ ./TQSL-x86_64.AppImage 73, -Rick -- Rick Murphy, D.Sc., CISSP-ISSAP, K1MU/4, Annandale VA USA |
