    Hi.
    I'm using tripwire 2.3.0.47 for Linux Open Source edition, i'm trying to create the first policy file but
    i get always error, i've read the tripwire 2.2.1 pdf guide, and i've follow the exaple policy file but
    there's no way to get the policy file accepted.
    Even using the default policy file twpol.txt created by the installation of the program i get error in
    the first valid line (like "@@" section in the example above).

    @@section GLOBAL
    TWROOT=;
    TWBIN=;
    TWPOL=;
    TWDB=;
    TWSKEY=;
    TWLKEY=;
    TWREPORT=;
    HOSTNAME=;

    Regards.
    Davide

    the issue is you are using the policy file included, which was meant to be part of the installer script. All
    those variables which are empty are syntax errors. You need to fill in valid values for those variables. For
    instance:

    POLFILE = /home/ronf/rd/tw240/code/z/tw.pol
    LOCALKEYFILE = /home/ronf/rd/tw240/code/z/local.key
    REPORTFILE = /home/ronf/rd/tw240/code/z/report.twr
    ROOT = /home/ronf/rd/tw240/code/z/
    SITEKEYFILE = /home/ronf/rd/tw240/code/z/site.key
    DBFILE = /home/ronf/rd/tw240/code/z/database.twd

    let me know if you still have problems...
