James, are you building a static binary too, as Reece was? I don't
know if your problems are related, but it sounds plausible.

Also, you might want to do the db init in verbose mode, with ldap
turned on, and see which file it is failing on. 

Feel free to send pertinent logs and outputs here for analysis.
