Let's fix some outstanding bugs (what's your favourite?) and start preparing a release in the not so distant future (say, August). > Alternatively we could agree to use farrer's textures [1] for now and I > could, based on these textures, make renders to replace the menu > backgrounds and icon and then we would have resolved all > license/trademark > complications before the next release. > > [1] http://opengameart.org/content/simple-car-textures > I haven't tested the new textures in-game, but from the screenshots I wasn't very impressed. To rephrase, I quite like our current textures. So let us do a release with the new .obj support and we'll see artists come up with. Regards Liviu |

What has a higher priority though, having good-looking car textures or having freely (GPL-compatible) licensed textures? I for one would prefer Trigger to use no (white) textures over the current (WRC, non-free) ones. [1] https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&aid=3468803&group_id=157028&atid=802155 I have been working on replacement textures and sharing the results on OGA [2]. I guess we can make car texture replacements a goal of 0.6.2. Thus 0.6.1 will allow artists to come up with proposals using the new .obj support. > [1] > https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&aid=3468803&group_id=157028&atid=802155 > > I have been working on replacement textures and sharing the results on > OGA > [2]. > > [2] > http://opengameart.org/forumtopic/lowpoly-car-uv-texture-skins-for-trigger-rally-linux-windows > The discussion is very long.
