on some other computer I experienced that, setting the
LC_CTYPE environment variable to something you have an X
font with the right name for does help.
Bad thing that you can not easily set LC_CTYPE to C for
example just for treewm, but not for applications started by
treewm...
OR: you should set the "Font=" in the configuration file,
for example to "fixed". Try looking for fonts with the right
charset (German users might need iso-8859-15) using
