Latest a2ps release dates to 2007. Its apparent homepage is at http://www.inf.enst.fr/~demaille/a2ps/ but both mailing list archive and VCS are 404. On the other hand the last translation update for it dates from just a week ago. What are the criterea for obsoleting? Usage? Upstream activity? POT updates? PO updates? I've made a small statistics of last PO/POT updates per domain and the longest not updated domains are: by PO update (last update before 2010): sp:"PO-Revision-Date: 2004-05-10 08:00-0500\n" unicode-han-translation:"PO-Revision-Date: 2005-04-04 10:55-0700\n" lifelines:"PO-Revision-Date: 2007-10-17 16:33+0200\n" vice:"PO-Revision-Date: 2008-06-11 11:57+0200\n" rosegarden:"PO-Revision-Date: 2008-11-12 20:21+0100\n" hylafax:"PO-Revision-Date: 2009-09-19 17:23+0930\n" gnubiff:"PO-Revision-Date: 2009-11-26 10:00+0700\n" lprng:"PO-Revision-Date: 2009-11-26 13:00+0700\n" gramadoir:"PO-Revision-Date: 2009-12-08 14:52+0000\n" by POT update (last update before 2009): m4:"POT-Creation-Date: 2000-01-10 05:27+0100\n" recode:"POT-Creation-Date: 2001-01-02 22:35+0100\n" sp:"POT-Creation-Date: 2003-09-03 15:12+0000\n" unicode-translation:"POT-Creation-Date: 2003-12-29 20:25-0500\n" unicode-han-translation:"POT-Creation-Date: 2004-04-01 18:24-0500\n" bibshelf:"POT-Creation-Date: 2005-02-15 15:08+0100\n" gip:"POT-Creation-Date: 2005-05-20 20:08+0200\n" skencil:"POT-Creation-Date: 2005-06-19 01:19+ZONE\n" gliv:"POT-Creation-Date: 2006-06-11 16:49+0200\n" doodle:"POT-Creation-Date: 2007-01-02 21:51-0700\n" jwhois:"POT-Creation-Date: 2007-02-14 14:08+0530\n" lifelines:"POT-Creation-Date: 2007-07-06 17:45-0400\n" lprng:"POT-Creation-Date: 2007-08-08 11:08+1000\n" keytouch-keyboard-bin:"POT-Creation-Date: 2007-09-29 18:23+0200\n" keytouch:"POT-Creation-Date: 2007-09-29 18:27+0200\n" minicom:"POT-Creation-Date: 2007-10-07 19:21+0200\n" libiconv:"POT-Creation-Date: 2007-10-25 00:19+0200\n" hylafax:"POT-Creation-Date: 2007-10-27 22:29-0400\n" a2ps:"POT-Creation-Date: 2007-12-29 11:28+0800\n" indent:"POT-Creation-Date: 2008-03-11 19:55+0100\n" keytouch-editor:"POT-Creation-Date: 2008-03-16 20:00+0100\n" gtkorphan:"POT-Creation-Date: 2008-04-15 18:58+0200\n" dialog:"POT-Creation-Date: 2008-06-18 18:26-0400\n" wastesedge:"POT-Creation-Date: 2008-06-29 11:56+0200\n" gpsdrive:"POT-Creation-Date: 2008-07-06 16:33+0200\n" libgpewidget:"POT-Creation-Date: 2008-07-11 13:00+0200\n" gramadoir:"POT-Creation-Date: 2008-08-17 12:05-0500\n" leafpad:"POT-Creation-Date: 2008-09-03 21:17+0900\n" texinfo:"POT-Creation-Date: 2008-09-18 20:38+0200\n" libgpg-error:"POT-Creation-Date: 2008-11-12 14:44+0100\n" vice:"POT-Creation-Date: 2008-12-15 21:20+0100\n" radius:"POT-Creation-Date: 2008-12-16 14:18+0200\n" dink:"POT-Creation-Date: 2008-12-16 21:52+0100\n" -- Regards Vladimir 'φ-coder/phcoder' Serbinenko |

It's that some of such files are in legacy encodings and/or have old team e-mail, sometimes more serious problems, and, at least, Ukrainian team was unwilling to fix it despite that I have provided a script for it citing the reasons like that devs dislike such updates and it's useless to do it. -- Regards Vladimir 'φ-coder/phcoder' Serbinenko |

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 PO files are only made obsolete in rare cases, mostly if they contain just a few translated strings, and they are not maintained for a long period and the translation team is inactive. Even the 'obsolete' files can still be accessed.
