Okay I'm new to this. What do I do to get the app to run as normal in the Applications folder. I have xCode on my machine, and have downloaded the tar. What else to I need to download and how to I compile the app. Also do application updates work?
Thanks so much.

Currently you'll need to download the sourcecode from the SVN, then open it up in xCode then click build and run.
You should be very aware that at the moment this is very much intended for developers and not end-users, its still a long way short of being released as a proper product - things WILL break and lots of things still don't work at all.
Applications updates will only be added when the project hits a beta state.

There are two errors that I am getting for you to be aware of:
1.) FilmRedux builds but everyfile I drop in wont go in (says checking file, then back to drop... and the file doesn't add to the list, nothing does)
2.) Also PunyVid wont build, it is missing 5 files, movtowav, movtoy4m, mgptx, movinfo, and ffmpeg
Cant wait for a beta release!!!

Okay heres what I got from the latest builds: <Am on a PPC with 10.5.5, nonadmin account>
FilmRedux: Still wont take the file into the list....
PunyVid: Can Comple, when added file, and press start this window pops up: "sh: /Users/~/Downloads/transcoderredux/PunyVid/build/Debug/PunyVid.app/Contents/Resources/durfinder: Permission denied (126)"

Filmredux: I can get that to build fine. Able to take file into list. But problem converting. Different formats give different errors.
When converting for Apple Devices (Most cases MP4) error is: "-af-add is not an MEncoder option" Which I'm assuming is something wrong with how FilmRedux interacts with Mencoder.
Well, finally got it compiled! Before, it was giving me a weird error you cannot fix in XCode ("Cannot find FilmRedux.app" or something to that effect).
Now to try it, along with PunyVid...

I have downloaded tarball from http://transcoderredux.svn.sourceforge.net/ and compiled FilmRedux.app successfully with Xcode 3.1.1 in Mac OS 10.5.5 (all updates applied) on latest model of 20" Core2Duo iMac. The application package was copied from Build/Debug folder into Application folder for testing as standalone application.
There is no way I can add any files into queue at all, whether these files are dragged into queue window or through popup window. The queue window remain empty all the time thus no further testing can be conducted. Target video format has been set to AppleTV all the time and testing has been done with various video source formats (such as mpeg, wmv, avi and flv).

We have a tar?

Try updating the source code - I've not had a problem with dropping anything in yet

When converting for Apple Devices (Most cases MP4) error is: "-af-add is not an MEncoder option" Which I'm assuming is something wrong with how FilmRedux interacts with Mencoder.
When converting to AVI/WMV, error is as follows:
-Video-,0,,,DX50,,Progressive,,1280,544,1.000,2.353,24,00
-Audio-,0,,MPA1L3,48000,160000
Converting TO anything other than the Apple devices WON'T work because its not coded in yet.
I can't reproduce your error, are you using your own versions of the binaries or the ones that have now been added to the SVN?
I used the subversion one and one I got myself and got the same problem:
-af-add is not an MEncoder option
Could you post the log file for this conversion please?
