I used SPPAS to output .stm and .ctm files that I would like to open
with TranscriberAG. However, I get an error, and I'm not sure if it's a
problem with SPPAS's output or TranscriberAG's ability to convert these
to tag files on the fly, as it says it does.
Here's the error message when I try to open a ctm file:
Error loading file C:\<path>\alc01.ctm :
agf:agf:CTM: invalid record found at line 1 when reading
C:\<path>\alc01.ctm
Here's the error message for the equivalent stm file:
Error loading file C:\<path>\alc01.stm :
agf:agf:STM: invalid record found at line 27
Line 1 of alc01.ctm is the following: ;;
Line 27 of alc01.stm is the follow: waveform-0 A A 0.0 0.724988662132 #
Any idea what might be happening here?
Thank you,

Dear Judith, As for video, in the audio world there is the container and its content. What is the codec used for the data inside the m4a file? That could be the reason why you cannot open it in TranscriberAG. Kind regards, Bastien Busson From: Judith Tankink [mailto:jta...@ho...] Sent: Monday, October 03, 2016 1:47 PM To: tra...@li... Dear Hazemo, Thank you for your support and we are glad to hear that you are using the software. The primary goal of Transcriber AG was not to help adding subtitles/comments to a video but that is a logical output of what you can do with a .tag file indeed. Pease note that though the project is in sleep mode with regard to the original development, there has been some progress made in the past years through valuable contributions: - first from Giulio Paci with https://github.com/giuliopaci/transcriber-ag-debian - and after with Elie Roux: see https://github.com/eroux/transcriber-ag-debian/ based on Giulio’s work. The goal is in the midterm to publish a new version of TranscriberAG (v 2.1.0) that compiles and works on current OS taking into account the new versions of the libraries used (and that may mean having to recode some parts/dependencies). Toward that goal, Elie Roux has made a good job for Linux but there is still need to: - correct a GUI bug with missing icons; - add a menu to be able to change the user interface language; - try to compile under Windows 7/10 (both 32 and especially 64-bit) and also Mac OS X and write down compilation instructions (binaries and packages would be the icing on the cake); - get back the spell checking feature in (it appears that the licenses issues outlined here http://transag.sourceforge.net/index.php?content=roadmap no longer apply with the latest version of gtkspell…). His work should greatly help Debian/(K)Ubuntu/Linux Mint users but it would be tremendous to have up-to-date Windows and Mac binaries as well as Linux packages… Once we have a stable 2.1.0 version, the next step will be to create a repository for TranscriberAG and update the web site. I greatly appreciate your help and feedback in that endeavor but since there is currently no active developers you may have to take the lead should you want to (I have referenced all available source code above). Best regards, Bastien Busson From: Hazemo Avddal [mailto:haz...@gm...] Sent: Thursday, September 08, 2016 10:17 AM To: tra...@li... Subject: [Transag-devel] Developing a Tool for Transcriber-AG Dear Transcriber-AG Developer(s), First and foremost, I would like to thank you for your great efforts in making this wonderful open-source software. I belong to a non-profit organization and we have been using Transcribe-AG for nearly a year. I am a .NET software developer who wants to devote some time in contributing to this project voluntarily. In our organization, there was the need for exporting the .tag files to .srt files so that we can attached them to the videos. I couldn't see any built-in option in transcriber-ag that can do that, as a result, I made a tool myself (coded in C#). As a first step, I would like to share that tool with you and also report a serious bug in Transcriber-AG. For the past 4 months we have experienced frequent crashes in the software without any clear reason (we have about 6 desktop all have the same problem with transcribe-ag). Once again, I commend your great work and appropriate your efforts in making this world a better place. I am very much looking forward in being a part of this great team. Dear Raymond, Unfortunately there is no current development on Transcriber AG since resources have been cut. Dear developers, I learnt about Transcriber AG from the http://www.sosciso.de/en/software website during a search for open source transcription tools. I'm wondering if the project is still active and if development on it will continue? I'm looking to choose an open source transcription software to use alongside Quirkos QDA. I'd hope your project is alive and well and has inspired many others to use open source software. Sincerely, Raymond P. Ambrosi |

Dear Barbara, Is there a way to 'plug' you pedal to a keyboard hot-key like the space bar to pause/play the signal? I'm not sure this feature has to be in the software, I'd rather think of a hot-key wiring that TranscriberAG would interpret as a keyboard/user input. Hello Xavier, I don’t think so because there can be simultaneous signals in dual channel mode. As you mention, if this is not (almost never?) the case, sum up the two channels and use the mono mode. Best regards, Bastien Busson De : Xavier Anguera [mailto:xan...@gm...] Envoyé : Friday, November 14, 2014 1:32 PM À : tra...@li... Objet : [Transag-admins] transcription of a stereo recording Hi, I started using the TranscriberAG on stereo recordings and I am facing a usability "issue" that I do not know how to solve. When I add a speaker turn in one of the channels I specify the start of such turn in the signal. Such turn gets only defined in one of the channels, while in the other channel the same turn from previous sentence stays open (I need to explicitly add a silence turn for it to close the previous turn). This creates an overhead in the transcription process that does not exist if I sum both channels and transcribe the signal in mono. Is there an option in TranscriberAG to transfer the tags from one channel to the other automatically? i.e. labelling at the same time both channels using the same segment. Thanks! X. Anguera |

Sadly avcodec_decode_audio4 has a very different signature and needs quite a good knowledge of ffmpeg to be used (which I don't have). So this and a gtkmm bug appearing only under Windows are postponed until I find money or good will from competent persons... Thank you, -- Elie |

You're the second person to encounter this problem. Sadly, I cannot reproduce it under Debian/Sid.. Can you please try the following: 1 installing in /usr instead of /usr/local: cmake -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX:PATH=/usr ../src make sudo make install and, if it doesn't work: cmake -DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=Debug ../src make sudo make install and run it with gdb TranscriberAG r bt and send me (privately) the output? Thank you, -- Elie |

Hi Alex, Thank you again, this should be fixed right now. Cheers, Bastien De : Alex Palecek [mailto:ale...@gm...] Envoyé : Sunday, March 09, 2014 11:34 PM À : tra...@li... Objet : [Transag-general] Documentation bugs Hello, Thanks for continuing to develop TranscriberAG. I found a few bugs in the documentation that I thought I should let you know of. 1) Dead link to annotation conventions In the paragraph: Event properties Double-clicking on an event tag or selecting Edit event properties in the event contextual menu (displayed when right-clicking on event tag) opens the following dialog box, allowing to edit event description, with respect to applicable annotation conventions <http://transag.sourceforge.net/annotation_editor.html#anno_conv> . The final link points to a non-existent page. It looks like several other links to annotation conventions are similarly broken. 2. Needed word change in the English-language version of the manual, in paragraph Research options Checking Whole word checkbox restricts search to whole words only. The Case sensitive checkbox allows the research to be sensitive or not. A combo list allows you to specify where searching for the martching term: in edition text, in tags text, or in all text. The Language combo allows to set the input language specifically for the search criteria. "Reseach options" should be changed to "Search options"-- le mot anglais 'reseach' entend des recherches systematiques, scientifiques, etc., tandis que 'search' signifie la recherche numerique dans une base de donnees (parmi d'autres sens, mais c'est bien celui-la que je crois apte a ce contexte). Cheers & thanks! -Alex Palecek Cheers! -Alex |

Hello, thanks to Eroux I finally installed TranscriberAG on Linux Mint 17 with success and I'm trying it out. I would like to have an answer some questions: - is it correct that it's not present at the moment an automatic loop function of this kind: " go x seconds back every y seconds of playback"? (I added a feature request for that on SourceForge) - isn't there a way to have events with a timestamp? For example, when I added the first time a "pronounciation unintelligible" event, I thought I could have clicked it again to go back to that time point in the audio timeline, as is the case for segments. - is there a way to make the time stamp marker more visible? On my screen it appears as a light green thin vertical rectangle. I tried to change its color without success. - is there a reason why the project mailing list is used much more than the forum? I would have posted there this message, but saw only one post (Rosemary Jane's one) without answers and chose to use the mailing list. Thank you very much. Falco |

Hello, > https://github.com/eroux/transcriber-ag/ This one is under active development, it compiles fine under Debian/Sid (if I haven't broken anything trying to improve mingw handling). Please try and report (to the list or me directly) any problem you might encounter! Thank you, -- Elie |

Hello, I'd like to install TranscriberAG on Linux Mint 17. Could someone tell me where to start from and follow me step by step? I always get compiling errors and I'm a Linux newbie. For example, where should I start from? https://sourceforge.net/projects/transag/files/ or git clone https://git.gitorious.org/transcriberag-aapo/transcriberag-aapo.git or https://github.com/giuliopaci/transcriber-ag-debian or https://github.com/eroux/transcriber-ag-debian/ or...? Thank you very much. Falco |

Hello all, You recently tried to compile TranscriberAG on your system, or provided feedback for that task and the instructions on the website (http://transag.sourceforge.net/). Pease note that though the project is in sleep mode with regard to the original development, there has been good progress made through valuable contributions: - first from Giulio Paci with https://github.com/giuliopaci/transcriber-ag-debian - and very recently with Elie Roux: see https://github.com/eroux/transcriber-ag-debian/ based on Giulio's work. The goal is in the midterm to publish a new version of TranscriberAG (v 2.1.0) that compiles and works on current OS taking into account the new versions of the libraries used. Toward that goal, Elie Roux has made a very good job for Linux and he's looking for some help to finish the job, this includes: - correct a GUI bug with missing icons; - add a menu to be able to change the user interface language; - try to compile under Windows 7 (both 32 and 64-bit) and also Mac OS X and write down compilation instructions (binaries and packages would be the icing on the cake); - get back the spell checking feature in (it appears that the licenses issues outlined here http://transag.sourceforge.net/index.php?content=roadmap no longer apply with the latest version of gtkspell.). His work should greatly help Debian/(K)Ubuntu/Linux Mint users but it would be tremendous to have up-to-date Windows and Mac binaries as well as Linux packages. Once we have a stable 2.1.0 version, the next step will be to create a repository for TranscriberAG and update the web site. I greatly appreciate any help and feedback. Thanks a lot! Best regards, Bastien Busson |

Hello Anita, It sounds to me that your .tag file (which is xml based) somehow got corrupted but it also looks like the program does not open on another machine with a fresh install… can you tell a little more? Otherwise, one solution may be to open your .tag file with an xml editor and try to find what’s wrong (unbalanced markups or anything else)… Good luck! Objet : [Transag-general] Transcriber dejó de funcionar - stoped working Hello, I was working with TranscriberAG on my Windows 7 machine the last 3 days and saved my work in the *.tag file. Today when I opened the program it wouldn't start working. The TranscriberAG window opened but a pot-up informed that it "stoped working because of a problem". It doesn't say what kind of problem and the only option I have is "close the program". I have also tried to deinstall, shut down the computer and reinstall, but it didn't help. I have tried on another computer (also Win 7) where the instalation had to be made new, but the same result. Can anyone help? Thanks Best Anita Locher |
