Tplan keyword Report and ComapreTo

  • nagarajan sreenivasan

I tried using ComapreTo with Report Functionality but of no avail as I am not getting the reports in a tabulated format . Everytime it expects ScreenShot keyword to be used which makes the  code messy. Is there a easier way to get reports for set of testcases in a single script . (just with the pass/fail criteria of compareTo function)

Unfortunately not. The report is a very simple and old feature which is not targeted for further development. Results of image comparison are available just for Screenshot commands for a reason. Many people use the CompareTo command abundantly just to locate a component to click or to verify the screen status, without any intention to see this result in the report.

Structuring to scripts and test steps in reports is available just in our Enterprise product. With the open source version you have just a few other options. You may create your own HTML template and insert the results in there from your script. For this operation you would either need to write your own custom command in Java and plug it into the tool or take advantage of the Exec command to do this through an OS command (if applicable).

Writing of a custom command is simpler than it looks for the first sight. If you are at least a bit skilled in Java, it is a matter of just a few hours of coding. A simple example of a custom command (valid for the open source version as well) can be seen here:
