Feature has been implemented. Given devices named "dev1" and "dev2" and a desired architecture name "arch", the following syntax will build the databases:

perl xdlrc.pl packages preprocess process custom:arch:dev1,dev2

Note that dev1.conns.xdlrc.gz and dev2.conns.xdlrc.gz must exist. The ".conns" portion is meaningless for custom devices but is required by convention. The files must be gzipped.
