IMO such a tutorial is not available. From my knowledge there are no
dependencies to Eclipse classes.
Which errors do you get? At least the TM4J_1_x branch should compile
without any problems.
If you check out the TM4J_1_x branch everything should work and
compile.

Well, you can build TM4J with any tool, but Ant is recommended since
there exists a "build.xml" with predefined tasks.
