YES !!! ;-) ozone (http://www.ozone-db.org) is an *object-oriented database*, so you can store any Java-objects you like. The ozone implementation of TM4J is exactly the same as the transient part with some ozone compatiblity features. There is also the ozoneXML project that stores to DOM to provide an XML database, but IHMO it is the wrong way to store topicmaps as DOM.
