Hi there!

How can I install tksql with PostgreSQL 8.0.1? Apparently, there is
no libpgtcl.dylib concept any more?

in order to correctly make mysqltcl works under debian,
i modified the pkgIndex.tcl located in the dir /usr/lib/

genghis:/usr/lib/tcl8.3# diff ../pkgIndex.tcl ../pkgIndex.tcl.ori

I remove the "rc" specification int the version package as my tcl 
version 8.3 is not accepting well this format

after that, i have NOT to rebuild the pkg_mkIndex command under tcl : if 
i do so, i have to re-modify the file /usr/lib/pkgIndex to remove the 'rc"

when all works :
tcl>package require mysqltcl
2.0rc11

when all fails :
tcl>package require mysqltcl
error reading package index file /usr/lib/pkgIndex.tcl: expected version 
number but got "2.0rc11"
Error: can't find package mysqltcl

perhaps tcl 8.4 donesn't behave the same

Well, of course since you meet these probles while *installing* it's
important to put info on auto_path at the beginning of install.tcl script.

#### Package etc/usr
lappend auto_path .

may become 

set  auto_path "$auto_path /usr/local /usr/local/pgsql ."

I hope that helps, I found not all versions of mysqltcl where working. I'm
using  2.0rc11 and works.

Done that too. Even though, as I said, it's based on a *X system

I've updated my tcl/tk, done what you suggested, and here's the
result:

It is a tcl variable, normally you don't need to play w/ it but is tksql is
in a unusual position you may need to. You can edit the file 'tksql', around
line 1050 you find:

just got me a new computer running MacOS X 10.3 (Panther). The Tcl/Tk
version on my system is 8.4.4. When trying to install tksql-0.8.28
from the tarball as root, I run into difficulties.=20

First of all, I don't see how to set "$auto_path" on my system. It

Howdy!

I've got an old Debian 2.2 potato system here I would like to use
tksql with.

Package: tksql
Version: 0.8.27
Depends: wish , tktable (=2.5) | tktable (>=2.7), libpgtcl

The problem is, my potato tktable is version "2.5-2" and doesn't
install due to unmet dependencies. Would it be possible to relax the
dependencies in the next tksql release a little bit?

i coded a bind to let me insert the current date automatically in my 
tcltk app using the following procedure
is there an analog way to insert the date with tksql ?
i have a date column with tksql as date type with which, i have to 
manually enter the date,

What you say sounds strange to me. Particularly the different behaviour
between different type columns. Tktable widget does not really know that a
column is a varchar or a text, and TkSQL will not behave differently. 

I tried to get the same effect but I just managed to save. 

I'll just tell you how saveing mechanism works, in case that gives you a
hint on why it is behaving oddly.

  1. When you get into a cell, the value is stored
  2. When you leave it the old value is compared (numerically is is a
     numeric type) and if different, the cell is registered for later
     saving. 

  Saving occurs:
  a. if you change a line 
  b. if you quit (it prompt you for that)
  c. if you force it (Ctr-s)

How do you copy paste the values?: in the edit line (above head columns) or
directly in the cells? If you put it in the edit line (as I normally do),
you may experience that the value does not go into the cell, since the value
is copied in the cell when a "key release" event is triggered. If this is
your case any button press (and release...;) should solve your problem. At
that point I could think at adding a bind to <Button-Release>, to copy the
text into the cell.

the data is well inserted but doesn't really seems to be taken in account :
- when i press Ctrl-s to save the change, nothing happens,
- if i click on another row, the automatic save function doesn't work,
in fact, it WORKS with varchar column (and perhaps more)
but does not work with text or with mediumint unsigned (and perhaps more)
(column type in mysql tables)

any idea on that ?

i am on my 22nd rows in my rimaytbl tksql-powered table :)
i told you it was a low-insert table

can you try using mysqltcl version 2.0+, It seems you have problems loading
the library. You could also try compiling on your system the source code, I
guess it's a problem connected with the way it has been compiled.

No!, but tksql tries to start w/ postgresql.

It should be enought to start w/: 'tksql -my'

Now I can't make any trial, if that is not enought try passing a nick as
argument (If you defined a nick).

Has tksql been successfully used on RH9?  Suggestions to resolve this 
scenario:

Version 0.8.28 has just been released. It is a minor fix that corrects the
handling of dates shortcut ie the way in which you can refer to dates (in
the filetr panel) in a logic way: 

  m-1  (since the beginning of last month)
  @m-2 (the whole month of april [now I'm in June...])
  and so on

  It incorrectly shortened the month referenced month to current month.

  eg: $m-3 ended up into:  >= '1/3/03' AND <= '30/3/03'
  (instead of 31)

  Fixed also forms like:

  15/%m-2/%y
