This release fixes a bug when displaying RGB images because the alpha channel wasn't set.

Version 0.5 of tkimggdal has been released. This release now builds under Windows and fixes a bug in displaying grayscale images.

Announcing the first release, version 0.1, of the tkimggdal, a photo image format handler for Tcl/Tk that uses the Geospatial Data Abstraction Library (GDAL see http://www.gdal.org\) for reading image files.

The GDAL library provides access to the standard types of images (ie PNG, TIFF, GIF, JPG etc) as well as popular GIS formats such as ECW and MrSid. The other major benefit of using the GDAL library is that reading of subsections of very large images is much quicker than with either Tk's builtin handlers or the Img extension.... read more
