A.R. has reported that the supplementary patch seems to be working well, so I've pushed the patch out to SourceForge; it can be found at http://tipc.git.sourceforge.net/git/gitweb.cgi?p=tipc/tipc;a=summary. TIPC 1.7.7-rc4 users are reminded that they need to apply both the original (defective) patch and the corrective patch to obtain the desired behavior; the recommended approach is to apply *all* post-TIPC 1.7.7-rc4 patches in the order they were created, thereby providing the latest-and-greatest version of TIPC 1.7 currently available.
