I have been using tinyxml for quite sometime now. Are there any advantages to upgrading to the newer version?

  The newer versions fix bugs, and that is a good thing. Better error reporting as well.
  
  If you are or version 1.x, or 2 but before UTF8 was introduced, you should definitely upgrade.
