Is this project still alive? As someone who is both using it and is a software developer, I'd like to help it move forward, but the project lead isn't responding to requests to participate, and there doesn't seem to be much in the way of activity. Does anyone know if someone else is running it and/or working on it?

There are some people still working on it and there are a few clients supporting it as a backend.
the project may be revitalized with the Virtaal project
there are some significant performance issues if you are dealing with large volumes of short segments
this can be remedied by modifying the "tinytm_get_fuzzy_matches" function
if you truncate the searched records (search within records of a similar length) your searches will be much more efficient
there is no provisioning for a review process but could be easily extended to do so
user/groups ACL within the API is not completely defined
there are no constraints on the segments table so create some or have a "garbage collection" strategy
its a very good start but the project needs community support
