First of all I love the Tiny Time Tracker program, however
lately when ever I attempt to launch the
tinytimetracker.jnlp I receive the following error. I have
updated Java to latest version. In the past this program has
always ran perfectly. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Is it possible to locate all necessary files on the machine
locally sothat there is not need to connect to any other site?

An error occurred while launching/running the application.

    Title: Tiny Time Tracker

Are you still seeing this error?

I'm not sure what happened.  It's configured to work in "offline" mode so I'm not sure what happened.

The problem seemes to occur when it is checking for the newest version. It has happened to a co-worker several times also. We usually are able to simply download the .jnlp file again and it will work, but just not yesterday. Is there any way to disable the checking for newest feature?

I have also seen a post re: changing the default path that the excel file is stored. Is this possible?

Thank you for your time. Again I really want to thank you for writing this program. It is truly fantastic.

Unfortunately no.  Java Web Start always wants to update if  the computer is connected to the internet.  It's not something I have control over.

I've got today morning the same error as mentioned above.
The only thing that I've done last week, I've installed a new Java version to my machine (and not into the default directory)
Can this Java installation cause such problem or has it something to do with a proxy server? I want to use tiny time tracker as I think it's a very useful application but I cannot launch it :(
I hope somebody could help me.

It worked (downloaded and launched) for me today - Java 1.6.0_16 on Win XP from firefox. This was on a PC that hasn't run tinytimetracker in ages and had never before been launched from firefox, so I confirm that it didn't just run from the cache. Try launching if from a different browser just to see if that helps. Let us know what happens. Also, what java version and OS and browser were you using?

    Hello,
I thought that it's only a problem on my machine. I'm not too familiar with tiny time tracker so how is it configures itself.
My default browser is IE (it is recommended on my work computer unfortunately) but Firefox gives the same error as IE.
I'm using Win XP, and installed a jdk1.6.0_14 onto my machine last week (because of an other program to use). The installation was fine because I could launch the other program. Java is not installed into C:\Program Files… directory, but into D:\… somewhere. Could that be a problem?
I'm not familiar configuring tiny time tracker as at my previous wokplace it worked without any configuration and here also … till friday. We are using here a proxy as well - I don't know if it can cause such failure.
I try to find out what happened but have not much idea about it.
    Thanks for any help,
    Dora

    Dora,

The error dialog has I think a details button with a few tabs in it, could you paste the contents of each tab?  That could help here.  You could also try uninstalling (in Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs) then relaunching from http://tinytimetracker.sourceforge.net/webstart/tinytimetracker.jnlp

I was not able to uninstall the program it also ends with an error (but no detailed error message)
Starting the application from browser doesn't help.
Here are the error messages from the dialog box after trying to launch TinyTimeTracker:

Otherwise my browser works correctly, my java on my machine also. Maybe I should set some Java settings in my browser too?
I hope you can find out something from these error messages.

    what I know so far:
    - I have a jre 1.5 installed into C:\Program Files\Java
    - I've installed a jre 1.6 into D:\
    - Starting TinyTimeTracker wants to use Java 6, but cannot. (Before this installation everything worked correctly)
    - In my web browsers the Java Applets are not running.
I don't know how to configure my system to be able to see jre1.6 correctly.

    Thanks,
    Dora

I managed to solve the problem. It seemed to be a proxy configuration error.
After reinstalling jre to my machine, I've lost some settings.
After configuring my proxy at Control Panel/Java/General/Network Settings … everything works well again.
I wanted to write it down only maybe somebody will have the same error in the future…

But I've learned that TinyTimeTracker goes online every time it starts :)
