TF unusable due to display issues in visual mode

Thank you so much for linking to that--it solved the problem for me, too.
(for the record: install ncurses-devel, then recompile tf. If ncurses-devel is not available, tf defaults to 'hard-coded (and broken) vt100 support', which will result in visual mode being unusable.)
Current version for Ubuntu is libncurses5-devel.
Thank you soooo much for this, I thought I was going mad!
Would be better if the compile fails without ncurses, unless you force vt100 with a flag :)
