When I open an existing or a new note and I am starting to write the text in the tool box, the text in the note dissapears and will never be available again.
Will there be an update in future? I am using this great software for a lot of schematics and I am not able to change the notes in my schematics, because they will be deleted after trying to change.
Thank you very much for a short answer!
Do you have a TinyCAD install that was an upgrade? I had this problem previously, but clean install on a new machine worked fine. I don't remember if an uninstall and reinstall (as opposed to upgrade) was helpful, but deleting the registry entries and new install worked. (WinXP & Win7 Pro 64bit)
Forgot to add I'm running TinyCAD 2.80.06 build 626.
No, it was an initial install of TinyCAD 2.80.06 build 626.
At the beginning it works well. But after a few month I got this issue.
I don´t know what´s the root cause. I am using Windows 7 home.
After deinstallation and new installation I still have the same problem.
I would be happy about a workaround, to get this issue solved on same PC, because I am
using TinyCAD for a lot of schematics with notes on it I have to update from time to time.
One workaround for editing an existing note would be to open the dsn file with Notepad and edit it directly. Something that recognizes and highlights xml code structure would be easier, like Notepad++ (here on sourceforge). Just search for the text you know and its easy to recognize the xml structure to make your edits.
Thank you very much for your workaround proposal! I will try this.
When you uninstalled TC did you remove all the registry entries for TC? Open Regedit, open H_KEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\TinyCad, delete all the keys/folders below that. Then reinstall TinyCad.
Yes, after deinstallation I removed all registry entries, but it doesn´t help.
After new installation same problem again.
I assume that a DLL was exchanged by another software installation. If I would know all DLLs which are used by TinyCAD I could exchange them by DLLs from an other PC.
Perhaps, someone can help.
I also had the problem with notes not working on a new clean computer. I'm not sure what I did but now it is working. I have installed other applications after this. Could it be a dll problem? Do we know that all dlls needed are included in the installation?
If I remember correctly (and I could be wrong), the notes were not deleted completely. They were just very small (like 10x10 px) and did only show the small black dots in the corners.
Sorry, did post that over in discussion - haven't seen this section here before..
It seems to me computer-specific.
Since On one computer it works and on another one it doesn't. I have it installed on two computers - both computers being basically identical (if there ever were such a thing ;-) and the OS is Win 7 Pro, latest patch.
It used to work fine on both machines until a few weeks ago, when all of a sudden it stopped working on one machine the way, the original poster describes above.
Possible that a Windows upgrade having changed some DLL's causing the note - problem to raise it's ugly head?... Otoh, both machines are set up for automatic patches, so should be on the same build...
I am using version 2.80.08 build # 631 .
Thanks for maintaining this wonderful schematic capture tool - it is truly helpful. Especially the posssibility to include images on it.
I am sure that I would not be the only one being very, very happy if this problem could be fixed!
Thank you very much!

Are there any news? It´s a long time ago, but problem still exists.
Would be helpfull at least if/which DLL could be responsible for this issue.
Thank you very much!

Thats +1 from my side.
Thanks for trying to fix this (at least for me) crippling problem. I tend ot comment my schematics rather extensively and this annoying bug makes this a show stopper for me, which is a real pity!...
To 'fix' this issue, you can run the app in compatibility mode ( right click on the app icon, select the compatibility tab, ckeck 'Run this program in compatibility mode for' and select Windows XP Service Pack 3).
Unfortunately it doesn´t work for me ... :(
There must be a DLL responsible for this issue.
Has anyone an idea?

A Logitec T650 trackpad mouse and its driver caused this symptom for me. I installed the new mouse this morning, and tested it with TinyCad. I was astonished when changing text cleared a note box, and F4 did not restore the lost text. Minutes later I was reading this discussion. I tried the Win 10 Compatibility Troubleshooter--running TCad under XP SP3 changed nothing. Then I removed the trackpad and its driver. So, with a Logitec Laser Mouse directing my PC, and the T650 boxed for return to Amazon, Tiny Cad is working fine with a standard mouse that needs only the Win 10 mouse driver.
That is splendid - many thanks!
Kind regards

This problem has been fixed in TinyCAD version 2.90.00. It was found by user Giermann. Many thanks!
