I teach in "university open access PC labs" where it is
difficult to get software installed, and even more
difficult to get software updated regularly. To
compensate, I create "live" R CD's or DVD's which allow
students to run R off of a non-rewriteable media. To
complicate matters, these lab machines clean the drives
of any files in the "Documents and Settings Directory"
everytime the machine is rebooted.
We also run Tinn-R off of the CD, however since the
default configuration file is only writeable to the
current User's Document and Settings Folder, the CD/DVD
that I burn have all default settings which are not
convienent (e.g. Hotkeys NOT set; etc).
It would BE VERY USEFUL if one could set where this
configuration file is written. Essentially, I would be
able to burn CD's with the customized settings that I
need for my classes.
