I am pleased to announce that the forums are back online, and the entire
site has been revamped to run on the phpNuke dynamic content management
OpenContact.org is not an attempt to compete with other emerging contact
management standards. Rather, the site is intended to serve as a
resource--a forum for developers and computer users alike to share
information about contact management systems.
There is a growing need to share contact databases between applications,
devices, and people; and so many companies and organizations are offering
their own proprietary solutions. Despite all good intentions, there does
not seem to be a viable solution for a contact management standard in sight.
At this rate, we are faced with the prospects of falling into a never-ending
spin cycle of incompatible technologies.
I encourage you to visit the updated site, and feel free to contribute to
the forum. For those of you with serious interest in the matter, please
contact me with ideas for collaboration and moderation of the forums.
