There's some interesting info/opinions here about current web design,

We don't need to push any particular design/art ideas, just be enablers 
for people to do what they want in terms of design and art. But probably 
it'll be good for us to demonstrate the flexibility of Tiki in this 
area. For example, although we use the Bootstrap framework, we do go 
beyond that and have all the site configuration possibilities. It'd be 
interesting to have a gallery/page showing screenshots of how even just 
one theme (style sheet) at a Tiki site can have many different looks in 
terms of layout, etc.

But I think we need to improve visual responsiveness before pushing that 
point much.
