OK, it sounds like the proper way to do this is indeed to resize with an image processor outside of Tiki. I understand why now.

I totally agree. The correct way to do this is to re-size the original image. "Resizing" an image in the browser by specifying a width/height parameter will result in lower quality.
However, Alain's original question was how to have it resized in the browser.

Well, there is a quality issue. The browsers typically resize using a bilinear algorithm, which causes some distortion and pixelization. External software will at least have bicubic, or lanczos, which provide much better quality. It would be good to have image resize within Tiki to do a proper job, but that's a larger feature to ask for. In the mean time, I would not trust a browser with branding.

I understand that if the image is say, 5 times larger than it needs to be, you would want to resize it using an external application. But what if it's just 10% too large and you just want to fiddle around with different sizing? Currently, you have to do:
- Resize the image with GIMP
- Save it
- Upload it to the site
- Reload the image
Basically, each cycle takes something like 2 minutes.
If we had a way to just change the size attribute of the image tag, you could do this fiddling in seconds instead.

You should resize it through an external application. Just forcing size parameters on the image is possible, but it does not reduce the actual size of the image and still forces users to download the large image. The Gimp can resize images with a high degree of quality.
