Hi, I know what you mean about sans serif = new/ serif = old, but IMHO it is not so cut and dried. In this message I was going to list some sites that use serif fonts very effectively but, since we're in the Zone of Subjectivity here, there's no point in belaboring this. I think TheNews theme, as a theme inspired by a number of current newspaper web sites should have a serif font. That's why the theme is called "The News". I think if it didn't have this print document look, then it would have very little character at all, and since it starts out rather bland, it'd be close to flatlining with a sans serif font. (Thanks for the offer of a reference on fonts; it's always good to have more information, but I'd like to think I retained something from 20+ years in advertising ;-)). If a main criterion is to use a sans serif font -- and I totally agree that the look of TheNews is idiosyncratic and very likely not what we want as the initial face of TikiWiki, then I'd say let's use another theme as the default. Apart from Darkroom, which Sylvie has put time into, the other themes haven't been looked at and refined as much, or are newer to the group, but it won't take long to get them to the same level. The intention is to get them all into very good shape during the beta period. -- Gary ma...@gm... wrote: > ... >> c'mon, jonny, it's not *that* bad ! using simple and clean theme with >> serif font-family doesn't mean it looks "HTML 3.2" ! > > Yes it is very bad.
